Ten years making software that holds up.
I work on the parts that get slow, get tangled, or move money. Payments, migrations, CI pipelines, and the P95 nobody wants to own. Currently building at Prefix.
Selected work
PrefixCase study →
Raised a seed round with a team of three engineers. Cut P95 initial load from 8s → 500ms and CI from 18min → 4min. Set the Domain-Driven Design boundaries the product team now argues in.

KeepCase study →
Managed multiple teams, including managers. Built payments and currency conversion moving $10M CAD/mo across six currencies. Introduced DORA metrics across the 25-engineer org; time to merge fell 9d → 2d in some teams.
2023 — 25
NeureloCase study →
Connect a database, get an API. Designed the first UI in Figma, built it in Next.js, then wrote query and migration internals in Rust. Hired the founding product team. The company shut down in 2024.
2022 — 23
Pesto
Joined the platform I had spent two years reporting bugs to as a user, as its third engineer. Rebuilt the meeting rooms. It shut down that October and we all met in San Francisco to say goodbye.
2022
ShipHero
Backend for the logistics and backstage teams in Python and Flask, plus the React Native app warehouse crews used to find products and pack them for delivery.

Projects
Padel Deuce
↗League and tournament management for padel clubs, priced 90% under the incumbent monopoly. 3 paying customers.
r/place clone
2024A shared pixel canvas in Rust and vanilla JavaScript. I posted it to Instagram; strangers filled it in under a day.
Fret Explorer
↗Greek scales mapped onto a guitar neck. I built it to learn them. It worked.
Piano Keyboard
↗A musician who codes eventually builds an instrument.

2023Picked up a good-first-issue while trying out the editor. Stayed for the modal editing.
elixirschool/elixirschool

About
I studied Computer Science at ITESO in Guadalajara and have spent the decade since in startups — twice as one of the first engineers, once as the manager, and now back where I am most useful, writing the code.
Two of the companies on this page no longer exist. I would rather work on something that might fail than something that cannot matter.
Away from the keyboard I play padel, badly and constantly, which is why I built a league app for it. I am also a musician, which is why the guitar and piano tools above exist. Every hobby I have eventually becomes a repository.
